The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics is redefining the way musculoskeletal care is delivered across the region with locations throughout Maryland, DC, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Dr. Joseph Layug, M.D. is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. After completing his medical degree and orthopaedic surgery residency at Georgetown University, he began his private practice in 1995. Dr. Layug previously served as the Chairman of Orthopaedic Surgery at Laurel Regional Hospital from 2003 through 2016. He has been appointed to the Columbia Association Medical Advisory Board which serves to improve the health and fitness of the Columbia, Maryland community and its members.
Dr. Layug maintains a general orthopaedic surgery practice with a special interest in sports medicine and arthroscopy. After training and competing in his first Olympic distance triathlon at age 45, Dr. Layug has since developed a specific interest in the orthopaedic care of the endurance athlete. His personal training experiences (aka failures!) and interest in sports medicine provide a unique perspective in the orthopaedic treatment of the endurance athlete.
